St Peter’s is currently developing policies and procedures around Positive Behaviour Support.

Positive Behaviour 4 Learning (PB4L) uses preventative, teaching and reinforcement-based strategies to achieve meaningful and durable behaviour outcomes.

PB4L is an evidence-based approach for supporting all students as well as for individual students.

PB4L support for individual students:

  • concentrates primarily on preventing the occurrence of an identified behaviour by avoiding or adapting the circumstances that usually trigger this behaviour
  • focuses on building skills to use or develop alternative preferred behaviours
  • considers the motivation for or functions of behaviours
  • values the student and their attempts at positive interaction
  • uses the students’ strengths and interests to increase success
  • increases an individual’s quality of life by supporting increased access and engagement.

At St Peter’s, our PB4L program will focus on being respectful, resilient and responsible, and students learn about the behaviours outlined in the matrix below.

At St Peter’s we value the teachings of Jesus, friendship and a quality education as we learn and play with respect, responsibility and resilience.
